Concetta Reynolds (née Abruzzi) is a minor character in the Doctor Sleep novel.

She grew up Christian, taking in all the beliefs. She was a schizophrenic. Concetta would have a love for poetry, in which she would write twenty books.

Background

Concetta was born in the country with her parents, she grew up on a farm.

When she was only twelve, she had come to America. After her daughter, Sandy, dies in a car crash. Her daughter, Lucy, is raised by her.

One day in 2001, Lucy, David, and herself are watching a tape where Abra is born. While Concetta is holding baby Abra, David and Lucy talk about when they can show the tape to Abra. While talking, Lucy breastfeeds Abra and Concetta touches Abra’s head. One night, David and Lucy wake up to Abra crying. Not knowing what to do, they call Concetta. She tells them to take her to a hospital. They do in the morning, but nothing is wrong with Abra. At 7:30, Concetta does come. At nine, their pediatrician, John Dalton also comes. John tells all of them about the Twin Towers attack. Abra then stops crying as they all apart.

Just around a year after 9/11, Abra uses the shine to predict her dad’s return from work. In spring of 2003, she uses her shine to predict money in her mom’s dresser. By July 6, 2003, Abra could speak in full sentences. When Concetta visited, David left to go to the store and Lucy and herself were in the kitchen when they heard Abra’s scream. They went to her and she Abra tells them that their neighbor fell. They go to the house and see if actually happened, which it did. One time when she watched The Simpsons with Abra, Lucy got mad.

In April 2004, shortly before Abra’s birthday party, she and David go to see John to ask him if he wants to go to Abra’s birthday party, he does. They also tell John that they think Abra had a premonition of 9/11, how Abra likes music, and Abra’s visions.

She would be at Abra’s party. She talks to John when Lucy comes to them to tell them about the magician Dave hired. They watch the performance when they hear noises in the house. She, Lucy, and John go inside to investigate when they are shocked to see spoons on the ceiling. David then walks in and sees it too. Abra walks in and drops the spoons.

Main Events

in August of 2013, as she gets ready to start another day, however she collapses and is sent to hospital, she calls up Lucy when she’s there. It would later be revealed she had cancer. One day while Lucy and Abra are with Concetta, she tells Lucy that she isn’t afraid if she dies or not. On a Sunday night, she falls and breaks her arm when she try’s to use the bathroom and the paramedics are called by Lucy.

Death

Danny visits her, who is dying of cancer in a hospital in Boston, and telepathically learns from her that he and Abra's mother, Lucy, are half-siblings with the same father: Jack Torrance. As Concetta dies, Dan takes her diseased steam into himself.

Later during the final battle, Danny unleashes her steam to kill all of the other True Knot members.
