Robert Townley Watson is a minor posthumous character in the The Shining novel. He built the Overlook Hotel between the years of 1907 and 1909 and owned it until 1915.

Sometime in the early 30’s, he accidentally stuck his finger in a light socket and died. It would happen before the Great Depression shut down the Overlook for ten years.
